Mindy says

I first laid eyes on Karen in 5th grade. She was SUPER COOL - even back then at the age of 10. From 5th through 10th grade I sat behind her in homeroom desperately trying to think of clever things to say. I use to walk to her house, knock on the front door, and ask if she wanted to come out and play. I was persistent. She finally saw the light of my special nerdiness and here we are... 40+ years later. Oh boy!

Karen says
When I first met Mindy in 5th grade, she had wild, long hair, a big smile with deep dimples, and dark brown eyes behind coke bottle glasses. She was full of energy and the promise of adventure. She would say things like, "love has no bounds" and "sleep is a waste of time."
We dug out half of my back yard and planted a huge garden. That was the beginning of everything.
